Purdue big man Zach Edey is returning to the Boilermakers for the 2022-23 season, he announced on his Twitter page. Edey tweeted a highlight video out along with a statement confirming his decision to return to Purdue.
“I’m officially coming back for year three,” Edey said. “Love this campus and the people it has led me to so far. Definitely ready to get to work again. See you in Mackey.”
Edey was a three-star prospect coming out of Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy in the 2020 recruiting class but his size made him a player who quickly developed into a star. A 7-foot-4 center, Edey averaged 8.7 points and 4.4 rebounds per game in his freshman season, which then led to him becoming a star in college basketball this past season. Edey averaged 14.4 points and 7.7 rebounds per game in 2021-22. Edey landed Second Team All-Big Ten honors in 2022.
