Kevin Youkilis’ 2013 season with the Yankees was wrecked by back surgery, but the infielder will be back in the free agent market this winter with no physical issues, his agent says. “He’s fine,” said Joe Bick, Youkilis’ representative. “Had the Yankees made it to the postseason, there’s a pretty good chance he would’ve been ready to play. “He shouldn’t have any issues whatsoever going forward. It’s a normal off-season; just try to figure out where he’s playing.” Bick says he’s had no conversations with the Yankees about a potential return. It’s unclear whether the Yanks, who’ll need insurance at third base, will be interested. Youkilis, who will be 35 in March, played in only 28 games last season, batting .219 with two homers and eight RBI after signing for one year and $12 million last winter.
Youkilis healthy again ... just in time for free agency
