Rivera in '13 General manager Brian Cashman rejected any notion that Mariano Rivera could rehab his right knee in time to pitch again this season. "He's not coming back this year, and I wish he was," Cashman said on SiriusXM's MLB Network channel. Cashman also said that Rivera's physical therapist was "unprofessional" for stating in a published report that the all-time saves leader possibly could return to the mound this year. Rivera underwent surgery in May to repair a torn ACL. "Medical personnel should be quiet," Cashman said, adding that Dr. Keith Pyne's recent quotes in the New York Post were overly enthusiastic and "provided improper information."
