The Yankees acquired minor league shortstop Alberto Gonzelez from the Cubs late Thursday night in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations. Gonzalez, a non-roster player, will report to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Because Gonzalez is not being placed on the 40-man roster, no corresponding transaction is required. Gonzalez has played parts of eight seasons with five different teams including the Yankees, who acquired him in the 2007 trade that sent Randy Johnson to Arizona.
