The Winter Meetings are being held in person for the first time since 2019, and a bevy of big-name free agents could make a decision on their baseball future this week in San Diego. One such player is Bogaerts, who is among the four elite shortstops on the market right now. According to Peter Abraham of The Boston Globe (subscription required), there are 8-11 teams interested in signing the 30-year-old. However, the Red Sox -- the only team Bogaerts has played for since signing with them in 2009 -- appear to be lagging in the bidding.

Abraham has heard that the Red Sox have not made a competitive offer to their four-time All-Star and, as of Sunday afternoon, were not "positioned" in that large group of clubs going after the shortstop.
