Detroit Red Wings defenseman Niklas Kronwall was taken off the ice on a stretcher after being checked from behind into the boards by Colorado Avalanche forward Cody McLeod Thursday. Kronwall was down on the ice and motionless for a minute for a few minutes but did move his arms and legs while being attended to by medical personnel. McLeod received a five-minute major penalty for boarding and a game misconduct. He likely will face a suspension from the NHL
