After finalizing a trade for outfielder Joey Gallo earlier in the day, the Yankees struck again Thursday evening, acquiring first baseman Anthony Rizzo from the Cubs. The latter deal created an infield logjam in the Bronx, and it will only get more crowded once Luke Voit returns from the injured list. But there’s a chance Voit will be wearing a different uniform when he's activated from the IL.
A source told MLB.com's Mark Feinsand that the Yankees are looking to trade Voit before the 4 p.m ET Deadline. The club is still in need of pitching help and could use Voit to get it, or at least clear additional space below the $210 million Competitive Balance Tax threshold to add an arm in a different deal.
