For Will Butcher it came down to relationships and feeling comfortable when he decided to sign with the Devils as college hockey's most sought-after free agent this summer. Though it was exciting to be on a "rock star tour" for nearly two weeks after becoming a free agent Aug. 15, it wasn't glitz and glamour that drew him to the Devils. Instead, it was their far-from-flashy head coach John Hynes who sold Butcher on taking his talents to New Jersey. "(I just) kind of hit it off with Coach Hynes," Butcher told reporters on a conference call Monday. "I really like him. I think he's a sound hockey mind, a sound coach. Mostly the reason why I chose New Jersey is I think Coach Hynes was a development (coach), and how they cater to their guys and help them get ready for the NHL game."
