We've never negotiated a contract extension for an NBA player, so maybe we just don't understand the process. According to The Bee's Jason Jones, Kings center DeMarcus Cousins has been told by his agent not to discuss the team, presumably so he won't hurt his bargaining power since he's eligible for a contract extension this summer. It seems agent Dan Fegan wants a maximum deal for the fourth-year center – why wouldn't he? – and may consider demanding a trade to try to force the Kings' hand.
Why is Cousins being so quiet about Kings?
