All things considered, the Devils got great news on the injury to forward Taylor Hall. The left winger suffered a right knee contusion on Tuesday in a collision with Los Angeles Kings defenseman Kurtis MacDermid in the third period of the Devils' 4-1 win. An MRI revealed no structural damage. Hall missed Wednesday's practice and won't travel with the team for Thursday's game against the Montreal Canadiens, but his status beyond that is still to be determined. He is officially listed as day-to-day. "The real positive news of that is there's no (structural) damage," Devils coach John Hynes said. "It's just a contusion and it's going to take him a little while to get ready, and that's why we have him at day-to-day." The Devils will be without Hall, plus forwards Marcus Johansson and Kyle Palmieri, for Thursday's game. They will travel with 11 healthy forwards and eight healthy defenseman.
