The Giants’ first full-squad workout is Wednesday, but Brandon Belt is scheduled to attend his salary arbitration hearing in St. Petersburg, Fla. Instead. It’s scheduled for 9 a.m. EST. Belt already has flown to St. Pete, as have Giants officials scheduled to argue their case in front of a three-arbitrator panel. Even with the hearing hours away, the two sides are continuing talks on a one-year deal “in the spirit of trying to settle,” general manager Brian Sabean said. The Giants have not been to an arbitration hearing since A.J. Pierzynski beat them in 2004. A Belt hearing seemed possible because the two sides were so far apart. Belt is seeking $3.6 million. The Giants are offering $2.05.
