The Philadelphia 76ers are going to have to make a move involving Ben Simmons sooner or later. They can tell teams they have trade discussions with that they are comfortable having him on the roster heading into the 2021-22 NBA season, but a deal will have to be made eventually.
Simmons has reportedly cut off all communication with the organization, as everything is going through his agent. He has ignored calls from Joel Embiid, essentially cutting all ties with the franchise that selected him first overall in 2016.
If that is true, the 76ers know they cannot bring Simmons back, and the rest of the league knows that is the case as well. So, something will have to give, and it will be that Philadelphia parts ways with him sooner than later.
They are reportedly motivated to get a deal done, but the trade offers they have offered teams make it seem like that is not the case. The Golden State Warriors, San Antonio Spurs, and Toronto Raptors all received offers that wouldn’t be accepted in a video game.
Plenty of teams around the league would love to have Simmons on their roster. He is 25-years old with some elite skills. If he ever regained confidence shooting the ball, he would be among the very best players in the NBA. Could he realize that potential with the Sacramento Kings?
The Kings are now the betting favorites to land the former LSU product. What could a deal between the two teams look like?
Let’s take a look at a hypothetical swap between the Sacramento Kings and Philadelphia 76ers.
Philadelphia 76ers Receive: G De’Aaron Fox, G Buddy Hield, 2022 First-Round Pick
Sacramento Kings Receive: F/G Ben Simmons, G Danny Green
The Ben Simmons saga finally comes to an end with this deal. The Sacramento Kings and Philadelphia 76er hammer out a deal that works for both sides.
The Minnesota Timberwolves and Toronto Raptors are two teams reportedly pursuing Simmons still. But the offers haven’t appealed to the 76ers just yet. As a result, the Kings swoop in and get the deal done.
