Georgia and Clemson’s Week 1 showdown had major implications on the 2021 college football scene. Both are powerhouse programs and the clash in Charlotte, N.C., likely had a seismic effect on how the College Football Playoff race will shape up.

But the impact of the Bulldogs' 10-3 win likely extends much further into the future. Several high-profile recruits in the 2022 and 2023 classes were on hand and, according to 247Sports Director of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong, several came away impressed with Georgia’s defensive masterclass.

“I think that the way both teams played spoke on both sides,” Wiltfong said on Wednesday’s 5 Minute Morning. “Obviously, with Georgia getting the win, and I think there were more prospects there that came in favoring Georgia. C.J. Madden, an edge rusher that’s going to announce soon, I love where Georgia stands for him. He just goes, ‘Man, Georgia’s defense is fast and aggressive.’ We knew it was going to be good, but to see it live against that caliber of opponent -- wow.”
