As Lloyd Christmas would say, “So you’re telling me there’s a chance?”

Not good. Not likely. It’s very slim. But, for a second, let’s imagine Zion Williamson back in college, dominating like few college athletes ever have and giving himself a chance at a new NBA team.

As stunning as this would be, let’s consider a few things that could make it happen. He hasn’t hired an agent yet. Williamson is on record saying how much he loved his time at Duke, so much that he had to be convinced to go pro. There is a bidding war between sneaker companies for his services, and signing with one would make him ineligible for the NCAA — but he has not signed.

“I mean this 100% when I say it. If I could come back for a second year and play, I would,” he told Slam Magazine recently. “Being at Duke was a dream come true for me. It was the best year of my life, unfortunately that’s not the reality we live in.”
