The Miami Marlins dropped a Bronx bomb on the sports world Saturday by reportedly agreeing to trade National League MVP Giancarlo Stanton to the New York Yankees. Adding Stanton to a team that finished one win shy of reaching the World Series makes the Yankees even more formidable. The news comes less than 24 hours after Japanese phenom Shohei Ohtani signed with the Los Angeles Angels, and means competition in the American League has become stiffer. With two superstars joining teams the Blue Jays will be battling for playoff spots, George Rusic, Gare Joyce and Josh Goldberg debated on the Sportsnet Hot Stove what course of action Toronto should take. “There is no good news here for the Jays and I’m sort of half expecting that we’ll see Donaldson gone sooner rather than later,” said Joyce. “The Blue Jays are moving in the opposite cycle right now.”
