Jesse Lingard could not have hoped for a better start to his West Ham career, six starts, four goals, one assist and a recall to the England set-up.

Not a bad return for a man who had not started a Premier League game since January 1, 2020.

Lingard came straight into the West Ham starting XI and scored a brace on his debut against Aston Villa, the 28-year-old has only tasted defeat once in a Hammers shirt and that was narrowly against champions-elect Manchester City.

The lack of an attacking threat in West Ham's two recent trips to Manchester United, games in which Lingard was ineligible to play, is a clear sign of how important he has already become to David Moyes' team.
