Islanders head coach Doug Weight is hoping winger Tanner Fritz, who was called up from Bridgeport Monday, can spark his struggling third line. Fritz, who leads the Sound Tigers with 35 points in 29 games this season, didn't expect to see his NHL debut at this point in his career. However, Weight made it known that Fritz was suiting up against the Bruins Tuesday night, and he officially checked that milestone off his list. "A couple years ago I don't think I would've seen myself in this position but I kept working hard, working at my game, trying to get better each day," Fritz told Newsday's Arthur Staple. "I'm thankful I've gotten a couple good opportunities and I've taken advantage of those." Weight is giving Fritz a chance to revitalize a group that has been ailing for weeks now, and he believes the 26-year-old has earned that chance.
