Washington State’s top-paid coaches and athletic administrators took a pay cut for 2020 as the university deals with an economic shortfall related to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Cougars football coach Nick Rolovich, men’s basketball coach Kyle Smith, athletic director Pat Chun and university president Kirk Schulz are taking 5 percent salary cuts for the 2020-21 academic year. No coaches will receive contract bonuses or incentives.

The move follows a trend started by Iowa State University on April 1.
