San Jose Sharks forward Joel Ward is out indefinitely because of an injury, according to the San Jose Mercury News. Ward left a 5-3 loss against the Vegas Golden Knights at 7:43 of the second period with an apparent injury to his right arm after Golden Knights defenseman Nate Schmidt hit him into the half-wall in the Vegas zone. "You've got a veteran guy that's out with a significant injury, that's the disappointing part," Sharks coach Peter DeBoer said Friday. "You feel for him. It's a loss for us. Leadership in the room and on the ice, and it's the veteran guy that's in the last year of his contract that's playing for another chance to keep playing next year. It's a tough blow personally and from a team standpoint." Ward, 37, has 11 points (five goals, six assists) in 46 games this season, the last on a three-year contract he signed July 3, 2015.
