A duel between two potential All-Stars didn't disappoint as Cardinals ace Adam Wainwright and Mets crowd-pleaser Matt Harvey raced the rain with a crisp, quick and taut game at Citi Field. Wainwright (10-3) proved the victor — with a little help from his friends. Jon Jay had a catch at the center-field wall to help Wainwright remain scoreless through seven innings. Pete Kozma had three hits and Matt Carpenter drove home a run, as did Allen Craig in a 2-1 victory Thursday afternoon. Edward Mujica added some late drama to Wainwright's 10th victory when he allowed a solo home run to Marlon Byrd. The next batter, catcher John Buck, had a one-out double to the right-field corner that put the tying run in scoring position. That run got to third base when Matt Carpenter made a backhanded play on a grounder to second base for the second out of the inning. The run didn't budge from there. Mujica finished his 19th save in as many opportunities with an eight-pitch strikeout of pinch-hitter Josh Satin. Harvey lost for the first time this season. The Cardinals speed off to Miami for a three-game series against the Marlins to close this 10-day, three-city road trip. They are unbeaten in their past 14 series.
