Virginia Tech officially added wide receiver Damon Hazelton, a transfer from Ball State, on Monday. Hazelton, a Franklin graduate, began summer classes Monday. He can practice with the Hokies in 2017 and will have three years of eligibility remaining, beginning in 2018. Hazelton, 6 feet 2, 207 pounds, played in 11 games (seven starts) for Ball State in 2016, earning the squad's John Hodge Award as the team's top freshman. He led with the Cardinals with four touchdown receptions and finished second with 51 catches for 505 yards. Hazelton played for two years at Loyola Blakefield, then transferred to St. Frances but had to sit out his junior year. He moved on to Franklin for his senior year and was an All-Metro second-team selection after recording 31 catches for 536 yards and 12 touchdowns.
