Class of 2018 4-star guard Brandon Slater announced on Wednesday night that he has committed to the Villanova Wildcats, according to Scout. Slater is the top-rated player in the state of Virginia in the 2018 recruiting cycle. A consensus top-40 player, the 6-foot-6, 180-pound Slater hails from Fairfax, Va. Villanova has now picked up its first commit in the 2018 class. Slater has had several programs after him, including Kentucky, Syracuse, Georgetown, Louisville and Virginia, and made multiple unofficial visits to Maryland, before ultimately choosing the Wildcats. Villanova looks to replace another wing guard in Josh Hart as early as this season, after he was named a consensus first-team All-American and has graduated. The 2017 Wildcats are bringing in four 4-stars and a 3-star recruit, three of whom are from the northeast area.
