Their physical dimensions aren't similar. Tony Brooks was listed during his playing days at 6 feet, 230 pounds and was a low-to-the-ground running back. Anthony Barr is a rangy 6-5, 255-pound linebacker. That doesn't matter to Reggie Brooks, the former running back's brother and one-time Notre Dame teammate. "They look so much alike," he said. "They have a lot of similar mannerisms." That's because Tony Brooks is the father of Barr, taken out of UCLA by the Vikings with the No. 9 pick in the May NFL draft. But the two do not have a close relationship. Brooks never has been a significant part of Barr's life. Barr's mother, Lori Barr, was Brooks' girlfriend for three years in the early 1990s when Brooks was completing a stellar Notre Dame football career and beginning what would be a two-year NFL stop with the Philadelphia Eagles.
