Vanderbilt men's basketball coach Kevin Stallings switched from the driver's seat to the passenger side of his car on Sunday night so he could return calls on the trip home from his daughter's dance competition in Atlanta. The good news is his phone is ringing with people wanting to join his Vanderbilt coaching staff. The bad news is he is now looking to fill two spots instead of one. After just one season at Vanderbilt, assistant Yanni Hufnagel has agreed to join former Tennessee coach Cuonzo Martin's new staff at California. Hufnagel confirmed the move via text message on Sunday but declined to comment further, stating it would be in his best interest not to talk at this point. "We wish him the best — obviously, he wasn't here very long," Stallings said. "He said he had a lifelong dream to be out in California, and so that's where he's going. We discussed the timing of it. "But he did a good job for us while he was here, and I think it's flattering when people respect the job you do and want to come in and hire your coaches."
