Flyers left wing James van Riemsdyk will miss one to two weeks with an upper-body injury, after getting hurt in the third period of Wednesday's overtime win against the New York Islanders. "We're hoping to get him back sooner than that, obviously," general manager Paul Holmgren said. "We'll see how it comes over the next few days." Van Riemsdyk, 22, was a surprise scratch from Friday afternoon's win over the the Montreal Canadiens. Holmgren said van Riemsdyk's injury wasn't related to a hit he took on Wednesday, instead happened during a play in which he "went to pass the puck." Holmgren added that the young winger didn't practice with the rest of the team on Thanksgiving and that his injury was serious enough that there was no chance of his playing against the Habs. Van Riemsdyk played just under 18 minutes on Wednesday, but didn't play after the 58th minute of regulation and did not appear at all in OT. In 20 games this season, van Riemsdyk has eight goals and eight assists. At this time last season, he'd yet to score a goal.
