Virginia junior guard Ty Jerome will forego his senior season of college basketball, hire an agent and enter the NBA draft.
The 6-foot-5, 195-pound New Rochelle, N.Y. native made his announcement on his Instagram page Monday morning, saying, “The last three years at Virginia have been everything I could have dreamed of in a college experience. … I have had a ball in my hand basically since the day I was born. My dream has always been to play in the NBA.”
Jerome, a heady point guard with long-range and clutch shooting ability, averaged 13.6 points, 4.2 rebounds and team-high 5.5 assists per game this season, helping lead the Cavaliers (35-3) to their first-ever national title.
