With the clock striking 3 p.m. in Chicago, a number of Bears -- notably linebackers Brian Urlacher and Nick Roach, offensive linemen Lance Louis and Jonathan Scott and defensive lineman Israel Idonjie -- became unrestricted free agents with free agency officially opening in the NFL. Bears general manager Phil Emery said he planned on speaking with the agents of Urlacher, Roach, Louis, Scott and Idonije. But no deals were reached before free agency began. It's also thought that the Bears are interested in keeping backup Jason Campbell and defensive backs Kelvin Hayden and Zack Bowman. But they also are unrestricted free agents now.
