A day after he went six strong innings and gave up just three runs in between five perfect innings, the Twins have placed starter Michael Pineda on the 10-day injured list with right knee tendinitis.

In his place, the Twins are calling up Devin Smeltzer, who will make his major league debut on Tuesday night against the Brewers.

Pineda is 4-3 in 11 starts this year for the Twins with a 5.34 ERA, though his last four outings have been quality starts. He missed all of last season while recovering from Tommy John surgery and a torn meniscus, also in his right knee.
