Ryan Doumit hit a three-run homer in the fifth inning and rookie Chris Herrmann drove in the go-ahead run with a double in the eighth as Minnesota took two of three from American League Central-leading Detroit. The Tigers had rallied from a 6-2 deficit to tie the score on Austin Jackson's three-run homer off Twins reliever Josh Roenicke in the sixth. Rookie left-hander Andrew Albers received a no-decision despite leaving with a 6-3 lead. MEANING: Closing out their final trip to Detroit this season the Twins won a series at Comerica Park for the first time since last September. They went 4-6 in Detroit this season. ETC.: Tigers starter Justin Verlander was ripped for six earned runs on 10 hits in seven innings. It was the Twins' greatest scoring output against Verlander since June 29 2007 when they scored six earned runs against him in five innings of an 11-1 win at the Metrodome.
