Turkish prosecutors are seeking a prison term of at least four years for New York Knicks big man Enes Kanter on charges that he insulted Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, according to The Associated Press. The Anadolu Agency of Turkey says that the Istanbul chief prosecutor’s office has put together an indictment that accuses Kanter of insulting Erdogan in a series of tweets he posted between May and June 2016. Kanter would be tried in absentia due to the fact that he is in the United States. The 25-year-old grew up in Turkey, moving to America in 2009. He is a vocal supporter of Fethullah Gulen, a United States-based cleric who was blamed by Turkey for a failed military coup last year.
