The direction of Troy Tulowitzki's 2012 season is out of his hands, and into the hands of a doctor. The Rockies' all-star shortstop was in Philadelphia Monday to consult with Dr. Bill Meyers to determine whether Tulowitzki has a sports hernia. The Rockies said Monday that they will not know the results of the examination until Tuesday. "Sports hernia" is the common name for athletic pubalgia, which is a tear of muscles in the lower abdomen. If surgery is required, the athlete is usually sidelined for six weeks or longer before they can resume full activities.
