Tottenham Hotspur striker Jermain Defoe has hinted at a possible January exit to enhance his prospects of making the World Cup squad. Defoe, who came on as a second-half substitute against Chile on Friday night, remains in Roy Hodgson's thoughts but accepts that regular playing time at club level will be key to making the 23-man party to go to Brazil in June. Defoe is currently an understudy to £26m summer signing Roberto Soldado at White Hart Lane, playing mainly in Europa League and low-key Premier League fixtures.
