Tottenham, West Ham and Sheffield United are among numerous clubs ‘queuing up’ to sign Jesse Lingard on loan – but Manchester United remain reluctant to trim their squad in the current climate.

The forward, who has been with the Red Devils for 21 years, has hardly featured for the club over the past 18 months.

Despite getting a contract extension in recent months, it seems clear that Lingard is not part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s long-term plans.

At 28, the England international may be wise to consider his options elsewhere – and he is not short of suitors.
