Mauricio Pochettino says there is no rush to tie Toby Alderweireld to a new deal — even if he can leave for a third of the price of Virgil Van Dijk at the end of next season. The Belgium defender, out since early November with a hamstring injury, is under contract at Tottenham until 2020. But he has a clause allowing him to leave for £25million in summer 2019, before the option for a final year kicks in. Centre-back Alderweireld, 28, is still on the same deal he signed when he joined from Atletico Madrid in 2015 and his agent Stijn Francis claimed in October there are “seven or eight” sides interested in signing him.
