When the NFL scouting combine begins in February, the annual event will be without at least one projected first-round pick.

Mississippi State defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons has not been invited to the combine, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported, due to a 2016 arrest stemming from an incident in which video showed him hitting a woman.

In a 2016 memo, NFL executive vice president of football operations Troy Vincent said any prospects found to have misdemeanor or felony convictions for domestic violence, sexual assault or weapons offenses would not be invited to "any league-related event."
