Patriots quarterback Tom Brady joined Kirk & Callahan with John Dennis and Mike Mutnansky filling in on Tuesday to discuss the win over the Bills on Sunday, Jimmy Garoppolo and to look ahead to the regular-season finale against the Jets. Garoppolo was traded to the 49ers from the Patriots right before the trade deadline, and now that he's been given the chance to start, the quarterback is 4-0 with his new team. His best win may have come Sunday against the Jaguars, as the 49ers won a wild one, 44-33. The win also allowed the Patriots to clinch a first-round bye in the upcoming playoffs. “He’s done a great job," Brady said. "You go in there and get the opportunity to play and win games, that is what we are all here for. It was good to see and good for them to beat Jacksonville, that really helped us. I am really happy for Jimmy and he’s worked really hard. It shows up when he goes out there and plays really well.” Garoppolo has credited his time with the Patriots for helping with his success thus far, and a lot of comparisons have been made with some of the things he has been doing to what Brady and the Patriots have done over the years. “It’s really a credit to him," Brady said. "You do what you can with the opportunities you get. I think it is great for any player and anyone who has been in the Patriots system to watch how the coaches prepare the players. There is obviously a high standard and high expectations for us every time we take the field. Anytime you’re in a winning environment, that definitely helps and I think guys really enjoy that. You take what you can and use that in other places if that is where you go. Like I said, what they are doing is a credit to them. I don’t think anyone should take credit for what those guys have accomplished.” Brady was asked a hypothetical question of what if the Patriots decided to trade him and not Garoppolo either before the season or at the trade deadline. Brady acknowledged anyone can be traded at any time in the NFL, but he loves playing for the Patriots.
