The Titans are interested in hiring suspended Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams to a spot on the team's coaching staff, according to sources familiar with the situation. Williams, who previously worked as an assistant with the organization, also wants to join the Titans but he has still not been reinstated by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. Titans Coach Mike Munchak and Williams began discussing the possibility recently after the NFL allowed Williams to pursue NFL jobs during his suspension. Goodell said he would consider an earlier reinstatement for Williams if he found a team willing to hire him. Williams would join the Titans as a defensive assistant. If Williams is hired, indications are defensive coordinator Jerry Gray would also remain in his current role. Williams and Gray worked together previously with the Titans, Redskins and Bills. Munchak did not return a message to The Tennessean on Saturday night. Williams also could not be reached for comment. Williams, who worked with the organization from 1990-2000 as an assistant under former Coach Jeff Fisher, was suspended by the NFL for the entire 2012 season for his role in "Bountygate." The NFL recently lifted the suspension on Saints Coach Sean Payton.
