With the secrecy of a Vatican conclave, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Ronde Barber have met. What will it be, the puff of white smoke rising from Bucs headquarters or golf clubs settling into Ronde's car trunk? Will he stay or will he go? I say go — step away, clean. Greg Schiano, GM Mark Dominik and the Bucs apparently want Barber, who turns 38 next month, to return for a 17th NFL season. Having watched their unwatchable secondary last season, I can't blame them. It's Ronde's call. I would love if he just said so long, his terms, his way, always classy, to the very end. I know it's not my business. Who is anyone to tell a world-class athlete when it's time to go? The drive that got them there, to be the best, is what keeps them coming back, always a new mountain in the distance. But a guy can hope, can't he?
Time for Bucs' Barber to go, on his terms
