Orioles manager Buck Showalter said Chris Tillman will pitch the fifth game of the season, leaving the fourth –and still unannounced– rotation spot for the home opener. That is expected to be Jake Arrieta, although the Orioles haven’t announced anything yet. Tillman, who has been slowed with abdominal soreness, will avoid the disabled list as long as he doesn’t have any issues in Friday’s start against the State College of Florida. Should Arrieta get the nod it would mark his third consecutive home-opening start. Last year’s Opening Day starter, Arrieta has had an impressive spring going 1-0 with a 1.56 ERA in five games (four starts). Brian Matusz is also technically still in the running for the rotation, although he’s likely to be in the team’s bullpen to start the season.
