Just three weeks after being placed on the injured list with inflammation in his right shoulder, Detroit Tigers pitching prospect Casey Mize resumed throwing on Friday.

Speaking to reporters on Friday, Tigers general manager Al Avila announced the team’s No. 1 prospect threw three innings in the Gulf Coast League on Friday and will now head to High-A Lakeland for another rehab outing on Wednesday.

Mize’s return to the mound is excellent news for the Tigers given the delicate nature of shoulder injuries.
