A right-hander for a lefty? Not a trade for the Tigers, just a roster shuffle because of an injury. On Wednesday morning, the Tigers announced that they've put left-hander Phil Coke on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 26, and have recalled right-hander Jose Ortega from Triple A Toledo. Coke strained his left groin during an appearance against Kansas City last week, and wasn't making sufficient progress for the Tigers to believe he'd soon be available. In 10 appearances at Toledo, Ortega pitched 14 scoreless innings, striking out 19. "He's always had electric stuff," manager Jim Leyland said of Ortega. "It's just been a matter of getting ahead of hitters." Coke will not accompany the Tigers on their upcoming trip to Houston and Washington. He said he said he will do his rehab work in Toledo.
