The Detroit Tigers have obtained some help for the back end of the bullpen. The Tigers have obtained Houston Astros closer Jose Veras for minor-league outfielder Danry Vasquez and a player to be named later. "We are pleased to add an experienced arm to our bullpen" Tigers general manager Dave Dombrowski said in a release. "Jose can pitch in a variety of roles provides depth in the bullpen and complements the roles of Joaquin Benoit and Drew Smyly." Veras is 0-4 with a 2.93 ERA 19 saves and a 1.00 WHIP in 42 games for the Astros this season. Veras a 32-year-old right-hander is 19-21 with a 3.88 ERA in eight seasons with six teams. Veras is signed through this season with a club option for 2014 for $3.25 million. Vasquez is a 19-year-old outfielder who has been at Single-A West Michigan. Vasquez was hitting .281 with five home runs and 39 RBIs at the time of the trade.
