The Oklahoma City Thunder selected Australian G Josh Giddey with the No. 6 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft.

In the middle of a rebuild after losing Paul George, Russell Westbrook, Chris Paul, and several others over the past couple of seasons, the Thunder failed to qualify for the playoffs for just the third time ever since their introduction into the NBA after moving from Seattle. The last time they missed the postseason was 2014-15 by a narrow margin when they finished in 9th place, just barely edged out by the Pelicans. This season saw their worst-ever finish at 14th place in the Western Conference with a record of 22-50.

Although they missed out on the lottery, they have six overall picks in the draft, including three in the first round alone. They’re sure to add some more young solid talent and make some big moves in hopes of getting back to their winning ways in the near future.
