Once an NBA rumor gets started, does it ever really go away?

Remember grade school? People spread rumors all the time. Often, they weren’t based in reality, and that fact would become exposed. Somehow, the stink of the rumor never really wore off, did it?

The same holds true for NBA trade rumors. Once one circulates, people don’t forget it. Even if it’s seemingly no longer relevant in practical terms, it’ll be discussed among fans.

With that in mind, nobody has forgotten about the Kevin Durant trade rumors that dominated the league’s discourse this summer.

Moreover, with the Nets off to a 2-5 start this season, the team is doing little to silence the whispers. If they don’t turn their season around soon, don’t be surprised if Durant’s rescinded trade request gets issued again.

In that event, could the New York Knicks target the superstar wing?
