Nothing lasts forever, but some things are more sustainable than others. The Phoenix Suns’ reign as one of the top teams in the NBA, however, looks to be crashing at warp speed.

They surely didn’t look the part in Game 7 of the Western Conference Semifinals. The Mavericks destroyed them by a final tally of 123-90. Now, it’s hard to predict the immediate future of this team.

Deandre Ayton is set to his Restricted Free Agency. There are plenty of reasons to expect him to find a new home. Meanwhile, at 37, Chris Paul will have to begin his decline soon.

He may want to get off this sinking ship while he still can. He may be old, but he still has a lot to offer a point guard needy NBA team. If the Suns choose to get some value for him by putting him on the open market this summer, it shouldn’t come as a shock to anyone.
