The NFL’s free agency period begins March 12, and most fans want to know who the Dallas Cowboys will look to add to the 2013 team in an effort to get the Cowboys back into the playoffs for the first time since 2009. However, the Cowboys also have some tough decisions to make about their own free agents. The Cowboys have 18 free agents – three of whom are restricted – they will have to make decisions on this off-season. On Monday, I started counting down the five least likely free agents to return in 2013. Each day this week, I’ll be counting down from the fifth-most least likely to the least likely free agent to be re-signed. Today, we continue with the third-most least likely Cowboys’ free agent to be re-signed this off-season: No. 3 Derrick Dockery Position: Offensive guard Age: 32 Ht., Wt.: 6-6, 325 College: Texas Years in the NFL: 10 Years with the Cowboys: 2 2012 recap: Dockery played in 15 games last season and started twice. Dockery made back-to-back starts at right guard in November in home games against Cleveland and Washington. Why Dockery is likely gone: Cowboys coach Jason Garrett speaks a lot about having the “right kind of guys” on his roster, and Dockery is certainly that type of high-character guy. However, Dockery is on the downside of his career and the Cowboys could benefit by adding a younger player who they possibly could develop into a future starter. The Countdown: The Cowboys’ 5 least likely free agents to return: Monday: No. 5 WR Kevin Ogletree Tuesday: No. 4 CB Mike Jenkins Wednesday: No. 3 OG Derrick Dockery Thursday: No. 2 ??? Friday: No. 1 ???
