One of the persistent rumors of this summer has been the alleged mutual interest that Bayern Munich and Olympique Lyonnais left-back Melvin Bard have in one another. While it may seem odd that a 19-year-old prospect would be eager to jump to a club that already has Canadian superstar Alphonso Davies entrenched as the starter, Bard might have his eyes on the opportunity to be a regular for Bayern Munich II and occasional back-up to Davies.
Per L’Equipe, Lyon is not eager to let Bard go and is willing to make some roster adjustments in an attempt to keep the youngster in-house. Management is willing to let Youssouf Koné move on in an effort to clear room for Bard in the starting XI. Koné has been a major disappointment since signing with Lyon last summer, while Bard’s potential has the club wanting to see more.
