As previously reported for VIP subscribers by Inside The Red Raiders, Texas Tech quarterback Tyler Shough will miss at least the next two games of the season, head coach Joey McGuire confirmed. Shough suffered a shoulder injury during last weekend’s season opener that will result in missing games against No. 24 Houston and No. 13 NC State on the road.

Shough is no longer listed as Texas Tech’s starting quarterback on the depth chart. Donovan Smith is listed as the starter, followed by Behren Morton and then Shough in the third slot on the latest depth chart given to the media.

“He goes in Wednesday,” McGuire said of Shough. “That’s going to be a deal where how many weeks it will be. I don’t want to go any farther than his shoulder. I know he will not play against Houston, he won’t play against North Carolina State, and will probably stretch into Texas. After that, we’ll just have to see where he’s at. If it goes longer, the good thing is — it’s not a good thing, but it is a good thing that we’ve got a bye after the Oklahoma State game. So it pushes you into where you got anywhere between three and six weeks to recover from his shoulder.”
