Texas Tech has fired women's basketball coach Marlene Stollings following allegations of abuse and creating a toxic team environment within the program. According to USA Today, Athletic director Kirby Hocutt told the players in a text message that the change was going to be made.

"Good evening, I have really appreciated your trust in our conversation these past two days. I wanted to let y'all know we have decided to terminate Marlene as our head coach," Hocutt said in the text message. "We will be putting out a statement about it tonight. I will set up a zoom call for us tomorrow to touch base. Kirby"
