Texas junior basketball player Andrew Jones was diagnosed with leukemia in January, and spent the spring and summer battling the disease.
He transferred to the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, cutting the projected time of his program in half. He took part in online classes over the summer while he was completing outpatient treatment.
Jones was able to rejoin his teammates for fall camp, and on Tuesday night the 20-year-old returned to the court for his first game since Jan. 1 as Texas took on Eastern Illinois in its season opener.
When Jones hit his second attempt at the free-throw line midway through the second half, it marked his first point since the diagnosis.
